The department of Community Ophthalmology, PNK was conceived with the need to provide service to those under-privileged sections of the society having impairment of sight and attempt to restore what perhaps is the most valuable of all the senses that provides meaning and worth to all that is beautiful and true. Regular outreach camps are conducted under the aegis of PNK Eye Foundation and in collaboration with NGOs like Helpage India.
Screening is done at the camp site and further and future management including surgeries are done entirely free of cost at the base hospital. We operate around 1000 surgeries under PNK eye foundation per year. The eye foundation recognizes that augmenting organizational capacities and its human resources is vital towards programmed effectiveness therefore keeping this aim in mind, there is a dedicated team of trained community eye experts including optometrists and ophthalmologists who go to the most interior of places in rural UP to make proper, cost effective and scientific eye health services available to the masses.
